The jaguar, guardian of the Maya jungle, embroidered stitch by stitch. The Jaguar Bag is by Paloma van den Akker, a designer who made Yucatán her home and works with artesanas (women artisans) from rural communities across the peninsula. It is woven from henequén, a natural Yucatecan agave fiber, on a telar de cintura (backstrap loom), and the jaguar is hand embroidered in cross-stitch, so every piece has its own character.
